Why does WDS stop working if I either enable PXE on a SCCM DP or select the “Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point” option on a Boot Image?

I’ve noticed that if I either enable PXE on a ConfigMgr Distribution Point (DP), or select the Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point option on a Boot Image, that Windows Deployment Service (WDS), stops working.

If I look in the Windows Application log I see the following:

Faulting application name: svchost.exe_WDSServer, version: 6.3.9600.16384
Faulting module name: MSVCR100.dll, version: 10.0.40219.1
