“Error: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion” when trying to start the Windows Deployment Service

I’ve installed the Windows Deployment Services server role on a computer running Windows Server 2008 R2 that has more than 20 logical processors.

I am trying to start the Windows Deployment Service but it’s failing with the following error:

Error: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Also if I look in Application Event Log I see the following:

Log Name: Application
Source: WDSServer
Date:
Event ID: 257
Task Category: WDSServer
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
An error occurred while trying to start the Windows Deployment Services server.

Error Information: 0xFFFFFBB3

I’ve tried performing an integrity check on a Domain Controller running Windows Server 2008 R2 (or Windows Server 2008), that has multiple processors installed but I get, the following error when I run NTDSUTIL Files / integrity:

JET_errOutOfSessions
-1101

I’m also seeing the same issue on Windows Server 2008 computer.
