Cliff Hobbs – MVP, MCTS, MCSE, MCP

Cliff Hobbs is a 15 times Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP), the first to be awarded in the UK for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr/ SCCM) and Systems Management Server (SMS).

He has worked as a Consultant with the product since 1998, during which time he has gained extensive experience of designing, deploying, supporting, and documenting enterprise-wide Configuration Manager implementations on behalf of many companies such as Microsoft, HP, EDS, Getronics, 1E and Abbey (now Santander), across multiple industry sectors.

Significant Achievements

  • First person awarded Microsoft MVP in SMS in the UK in 2004 and re-awarded every year since.
  • Founder and owner of FAQShop.com since 2003, one of the longest running and most popular websites for Microsoft Configuration Manager-related information.
  • Co-founder of the Windows Management User Group (WMUG) in 2006, the only UK User Group focusing on managing the Windows platform.
  • The FAQShop.com website contains all you need to support your deployment of SCCM
  • Based on real world experience, find the information you need when you need to those tricky questions that don’t feature in the documentation.

There are currently several information repositories for SCCM/ Intune but each has its own limitations:

  • Microsoft TechNet Library – Seen as the prime source of information as it’s written by Microsoft but lacks screenshots, “real world” experience of using the product, and troubleshooting information.
  • Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Documentation – Microsoft’s new documentation library for Enterprise Mobility. Currently only covers Intune, has no Search facility and also has a lack of tables and formatting to present the information in a way that works both for you the user and the information presented.
  • Technical Books – Typically either written on pre-release code or after a product ships resulting in a delay of several months before being available. As they’re static, books quickly become out of date and very few are updated as Microsoft releases updates to SCCM.
  • Blogs/ Websites – Everyone is potentially writing about the same thing which leaves whole areas of the product neglected. Plus there is an issue over the trustworthiness of the information unless the author has a proven reputation.
  • Internet Search Engines – Again the issue of quality and users having to wade through the results trying to find a solution that works and is officially supported by Microsoft.

We are passionate about making our content easily accessible unlike some other websites that just create a SCCM “bucket” and then leave it up to you to try and find it. One of the key principles of FAQShop has always been to organise content into topics and subtopics allowing you to easily locate all related information within a particular topic.

Our Vision for FAQShop is to create a single, centralised repository of ALL SCCM/ Intune and relevant related information that allows you to Design, Install, Administer and Troubleshoot these products.
