Why do Internet only Clients append the custom port configured for Software Updates to the URL for the Windows Update service?
I’ve configured a custom port for Software Updates. However, I’ve noticed that Internet only Clients append the custom port to the URL for the Windows Update service.
For example, when the custom port is set to 880 I see the following in the DataTransferService.log:
UpdateURLWithTransportSettings(): OLD URL – http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update.cab
UpdateURLWithTransportSettings(): NEW URL – http://download.windowsupdate.com:880/msdownload/update.cab
