Why when I install the ConfigMgr Client on Linux/ UNIX does the installation not honour the “TMPDIR” variable?

I’m trying to install the ConfigMgr Clients on my Linux/ UNIX machines but the installation doesn’t seem to honour the TMPDIR variable.
