| After installing the SMS 2.0 client, my
clients are locking up or taking ages to open applications.
Several things to check here:
-
If the clients are Windows 95 ensure that DCOM
is installed
-
If the clients are Windows 9x ensure the CONFIG.SYS
has at least 2048 bytes of DOS Environment space reserved in a SHELL=
statement (i.e. 'SHELL=c:\command.com /e:2048 /p')
-
Exclude the 'C:\WINNT\MS'
directory from being scanned by any anti-virus programs. Remember that the
Client logs are going to be updating and each time they are written to the
virus scanner will kick in. For Norton Anti-virus Select 'Tools
| Options | Exclusions' and add
'C:\WINNT\MS'
as an excluded directory tree.
-
If the clients are Windows 9x and have the SP2
client installed check out the
Windows
95 clients hang after upgrade to SP2 article for
further information.
