Why do I get many duplicate SCCM software update groups and deployments?

I am using SCCM software updates and have created multiple software update groups and deployments. But I don’t understand why do I get many duplicate SCCM software update groups and deployments?

ANSWER

The default behavior of the Create Servicing Plan wizard (which runs after every software updates synchronization), is to create a new software update group and deployment. Now if in your environment you have software updates synchronization configured to run several times in a short period of time then you will see several duplicates of your software update groups and deployments.

I am running ConfigMgr 1511 and I’ve noticed that the Upgrades entry is missing from the list of Classifications in the Software Update Point Component Properties despite me applying the following WSUS Hotfix:

I am trying to download Windows 10 upgrades using the Download Software Updates Wizard in ConfigMgr 1511 but it’s failing.

On the Completion page of the Download Software Updates Wizard I see:

Error: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586
Failed to download content id {content_id}. Error: Invalid certificate signature

I also see the following in PatchDownloader.log:
