Why aren’t Windows 10 Updates listed despite them being synchronised and downloaded locally?

I’ve configured ConfigMgr to synchronise all Windows 10 updates and download them locally.

I go into Software Library | Overview | Operating Systems and click Operating System Images.

However, when I right-click the Windows 10 image I’ve downloaded and select Schedule Updates none of the Updates I downloaded locally are displayed.

Why does my automatic Deployment Rule show an incorrect value for the “Software Available Time”?

I created an Automatic Deployment Rule (ADR), in ConfigMgr 2012 SP2/ R2 SP1 that creates a new Software Update Group (SUG), but I didn’t enable the Deployment.

I then added some updates to the SUG and scheduled the Deployment.

I manually ran the ADR which was successful and the SUG was created.

However, when I look at the Properties of the ADR it’s showing an incorrect value for the Software Available Time.

If I run the same ADR again it creates another SUG that also contains an invalid Software Available Time.

RESOLUTION:

[/resAs detailed in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 3026739 “Description of Cumulative Update 4 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager”, this issue can occur when locale-specific data is missing for updates.

This issue is resolved in CU4 for ConfigMgr 2012 R2.

After applying CU4 you should run the SQL script included in the KB Article against the Site Database of any Child Primary Site experiencing this issue.

Content Status showing as “Waiting for content” for a Software Updates Deployment Package

I’ve tried deploying a Software Update Deployment Package to a Distribution Point (DP), belonging to a Primary Site. However, when I look in Monitoring\Overview\Distribution Status\Content Status\<deployment_package> and click the In Progress tab it shows as Waiting for content in the Status window and in the Asset Details beside each DP it says:

The content files for package <package_ID> have not arrived from the source site <CAS_site_code>. Distribution Manager will try again later to distribute the content.

I’ve left this and refreshed the Console but nothing has changed.

Why do Internet only Clients append the custom port configured for Software Updates to the URL for the Windows Update service?

I’ve configured a custom port for Software Updates. However, I’ve noticed that Internet only Clients append the custom port to the URL for the Windows Update service.

For example, when the custom port is set to 880 I see the following in the DataTransferService.log:

UpdateURLWithTransportSettings(): OLD URL – http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update.cab

UpdateURLWithTransportSettings(): NEW URL – http://download.windowsupdate.com:880/msdownload/update.cab

Why does Adding or Removing a Deployment from a Software Update Group result in an increased load on Object Replication Manager which delays the distribution of Software Updates in my Hierarchy?

I’ve noticed that if I Add or Remove a Deployment from a Software Update group it places an increased load on the Object Replication Manager component of the SMS Executive service.

As a result I’m experiencing delays in distributing Software Updates in my Hierarchy.
