Are there any SCCM / ConfigMgr Site Codes I can’t use?

When it comes to choosing a Site Code for your ConfigMgr Site you have a pretty wide choice. However, beware as there are some Site Code combinations that are unsupported by Microsoft and can cause all manner of weird behaviour if you fall into the trap of using them.

Old Stratford, Milton Keynes, UK – December 10, 2015 – FAQShop today announced the availability of its new OneFAQ Knowledgebase for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr).  Based on a series of Notebooks created using Microsoft’s free OneNote application and hosted on OneDrive, OneFAQ provides a unique, centralised, subscription based Knowledgebase covering the design, installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of ConfigMgr and it’s dependent technologies.

With the ever increasing rapid pace of change and increasing feature set of Configuration Manager and it’s associated technologies, the need for up to date, centralised, easy to locate, quality information is only going to increase”, said Cliff Hobbs Founder and Owner of FAQShop.com.  “Traditional methods of providing this information each have their own drawbacks which OneFAQ addresses to provide a unique user experience.”

Building on FAQShop’s core values of organising and delivering content written in Frequently Asked Question (FAQ), format, OneFAQ presents information in a whole new way utilising the functionality of OneNote to provide users with flexibility in which content they want to access and in what order whilst providing full, flexible search capabilities.  Currently containing over 2,000+ brand new never published FAQs, many based on the author’s “real world” experience, OneFAQ aims to ultimately become one of THE resources for Configuration Manager and it’s dependent technologies.  Users will need to purchase either a 24 hour or Annual Access Pass in order to access the content, depending on their needs.

The only way we can create the amount of content now required and keep it current is to move to a paid content model.  With the work we’ve done so far we’ve just touched the tip of the iceberg but are up to the challenge ahead if people are willing to invest in us” said Hobbs.

For more information about FAQShop and OneFAQ including details of the Access Pass options and pricing visit the new Pricing Plans page.

Founded in 2003, FAQShop.com has been providing the answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), relating to Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (formally known as “Systems Management Server”).  In recognition of his community work relating to SMS/ ConfigMgr, Microsoft awarded Cliff their Most Valuable Professional (MVP), award in 2004 and have rewarded him every year since making him one of the longest running MVPs in Enterprise Mobility.  FAQShop believes in making everyone lives who work with ConfigMgr easier to allow them to spend more time with their families and loved ones doing the things they enjoy.

Why are Signed Drivers imported to ConfigMgr 2012 showing as Unsigned?

I am trying to import signed Drivers to a ConfigMgr 2012 Site running on Windows Server 2008 R2.

The drivers are imported successfully but for some bizarre reason when I look at them in the ConfigMgr Console they are showing as unsigned when I view them either through:

Software Library | Operating Systems | Drivers node and then adding the Signed and Signed By columns. The driver shows as No under the Signed column and the Signed By column is blank.
Software Library | Operating Systems | Drivers node and then right-clicking on the Driver and selecting Properties. The Digital signer field on in the General tab shows Unsigned.

The ConfigMgr logs are clean but if I look in the C:\Windows\inf\Setupapi.app.log I see the following:

>>> [SetupVerifyInfFile – \\\.inf]
>>> Section start
cmd: C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe -Embedding
! sig: Verifying file against specific (valid) catalog failed! (0x80096002)
! sig: Error 0x80096002: The certificate for the signer of the message is invalid or not found.
! sig: Verifying file against specific Authenticode(tm) catalog failed! (0x800b0100)
! sig: Error 0x800b0100: No signature was present in the subject.
<<< Section end
<<< [Exit status: FAILURE(0x800b0100)]
