As announced at MMS 2007, HP have just released their Client Catalog for SMS. The following information is taken from Bill Anderson's "State of the Union" presentation:

What it does

• Contains software driver and patch information for desktops, notebooks, and workstations
• Can now integrate and deploy HP software updates quickly and easily

The catalog

• Contains information about HP software updates (also known as Softpaqs), such as title, description, supported languages, download URL, applicability rules, installed rules, etc.
• Includes only software with a self-contained executable setup program that can be silently installed
• Is digitally signed

Notes:

• You can't do BIOS updates with this tool
• The catalog itself is a collection of metadata for various updates which can be imported into the Custom Updates Publishing Tool (CUPD) and the Inventory Tool for Custom Updates (ITCU) tools in SMS 2003 R2.
