The Advertisement for the syncxml.exe which fails to run on our Windows 2003 server. The message that I get is below:

The program for advertisement "SJA20007" failed ("SJA-JC- Patches" - "SJA-JC-Patches Sync"). The failure description was "11458".
User context: SMSCliToknLocalAcct&

Possible cause: The program generated an installation status Management Information Format (MIF) file with a status value of Failed.

Solution: For more information about the failure, refer to the documentation for the program you are distributing.

I added the account to the Administrators local group, but same thing. Can anyone advise?

You are running the SMS 2003 version of the scan tools and the failure description indicates a status message number you should look for, for a "complete" and localized description of the problem. If you were to do that you would find something like:

Synchronization component failed: the synchronization component failed to update the Distribution Points for the catalog (type = %1). Error code: %2.

Solution: Consider the use of the /unattend command line option and a separate update schedule for this package.

The indicated error code would probably by a wininet error like 12007 or something like that which would mean you need to do further configuration of your proxy client before the download will be successful.

Note: In this case using the /unattend command line option resolved the problem.
