SMS 2003 Client Push Doesn’t Appear To Work |
|
I am trying to push the Advanced
Client to Windows 2000 and XP clients on a test network. I have set the
discovery methods (heartbeat) and configured the client push to automatically
push to clients/ servers and DCs. Even when I try to push the client to the
workstation using the wizard it doesn’t seem to install the client. Am I making
a silly mistake? I have resorted to deploying the client via Group Policy. I have the administrators account of the test domain in this account setting. I cannot figure out what is happening. It is almost certain that I am not configuring something properly. Strangely even when I install the client manually on the test machine it still will not register in the SMS management console as having the client software installed. SMS sees the client, recognises it as Windows 2000 but when I try to perform an action such as remote access it says that the remote access agent is not installed. But the applet in the Control Panel indicates that the remote access agent is there. I am running SMS 2003 (demo version) on a Windows 2000 Server SP4 and SQL 2000 SP3. I have configured the client push section with the administrators account and specified the advanced client. configured the discovery method. I did try the ccm.log and it was rather confusing and could not pinpoint any particular problems Is there a step by step client installation document of some description?
