Will XP SP2 be available in
mssecure.xml so that we can push it out to clients through the software
distribution or will be have to create a package and send it out this way? If it
will be in mssecure.xml, and ideas when?

Service Packs are not treated the same way by MBSA nor listed the same way
in the MSSecure.XML file. While SMS does support the detection of missing
service packs using the security scan tool, we do not support the detection of
installed service packs using the security scan tool.
XP SP2 will not be added to the MSSecure.xml file as an update. It will
eventually be added to the MSSecure.xml file as the latest XP service pack.
If you use the patchinstall agent GUI interface to allow your users to schedule
update installations and reboots you may consider using DSUW to install XP SP2,
but you should be aware that your Software Update reports will never show an
"installed" count for XP SP2, though they will show a decreasing number of
"applicable" machines. If you wish to track the "installed" machines you'll need
to create queries based on something besides software update data.
If you deploy all of your updates silently and intend to do the same with XP
SP2, you should consider creating a separate package for XP SP2 anddistributing
it through standard software distribution.
