Asset Intelligence is a new, optional feature included in SP3 that offers
enhanced reporting which can be broken down into the following three areas:
License Reporting
These new reports allow organisations to better utilise their software assets by
allowing a comparison to be made between applications that are installed Vs
those purchased including a breakdown of the acquisition type of the license
(e.g. OEM, volume licensing, retail purchase, etc.)
Software Consolidation
Applications can now be viewed by category i.e. how many applications are
performing similar functions. This allows standardisation to be more easily
achieved and rogue/ unsupported apps to be identified.
Upgrade Planning
Reports that can help identify those applications that need attention before the
users of those apps can be upgraded to Windows XP or Vista.
