Can SMS 2003 Do "Bare Metal" Installations?

I'm evaluating SMS 2003 and how it relates to Altiris when it comes to doing a "bare metal" deployment. Does anyone have experience in loading an OS on a server that is fresh out of the box?

SMS 2003 will have the ability to do this later this year. Today, SMS 2003 does not have the capability to deploy operating systems (other than upgrading existing SMS clients).
