If you want to check the version of SMS 2003 running on the Site Server your Admin console connects to by default:

1. Load the SMS Administrator Console.
    
2. Navigate to "Systems Management Server | Site Database (<site_code> – <description>)".
    
3. Right-click "Site Database (<site_code> – <description>)" and from the context menu select "About Systems Management Server…" which will display the "About Systems Management Server" dialog box from. This shows the version number (which for SMS 2003 will always be 2.50), with the build number (the number in brackets) as follows:

• RTM = 2726

• SP1 = 3174

• SP2 = 4160

• SP3 = 4253

4. Clicking the “Versions >>” button will display the version information for the Site Server, Admin UI and SMS Provider which are detailed in the table below.

If you want to check the version number of a Site Server other than the one your Admin console connects to there are a couple of ways of doing this:

1. Load the SMS Administrator Console.
    
2. Navigate to "Systems Management Server | Site Database (<site_code> – <description>) | Site Hierarchy | <site_code – site_name>" where "<site_code – site_name>" is the SMS Site whose versions you want to check.
    
3. Right-click "<site_code – site_name>" and from the context menu select "Properties" which will display the "Site Properties" dialog box.  The "General" tab will show detailed information including the version number.
    
4. Click the "OK" button to close the "Site Properties" dialog box.

The second way is to:

1. Load the SMS Administrator Console.
    
2. Navigate to "Systems Management Server | Site Database (<site_code> – <description>) | Site Hierarchy".  The version information is shown in the Details pane in the right-hand side of the MMC.
    
3. If you click on a Site that has Child sites the version numbers for those Child Sites will also be displayed.
