Can Software Metering Track Software Usage on Individual Clients?

I am trying to determine if SMS 2.0 Software Metering has the ability to track down specific individual software usage per client. I understand that SMS 2003 has this ability but that requires me to upgrade. I would like to perform this task is possible without the upgrade. Can anyone help?

Yes, SMS 2.0 can do that. However, the Software Metering feature in SMS 2.0 does not scale very well, especially if you want to run in an online mode.

However, simply for tracking that you are referring to, it can work in Offline mode, which scales much better than online mode does. The reporting is not as good for Software Metering in SMS 2.0, whereas SMS 2003 does a much better job of reporting usage, though SMS 2.0 can do some limited reporting.
