Losing Connection During Remote Control Session

Whilst I'm connected to a machine using SMS Remote Control (generally a server), the connection just drops. I believe that it may have something to do with re-assigning IP addresses, but then I cannot connect to the server for another 24 hours. It is very frustrating, especially when you can only do the work remotely on that particular machine. It's all NT 4.0 based, and I’m positive it has nothing to do with network fluctuations/problems.

I should also mention that we are only using SP1 as the last time we tried to upgrade the client we had all sorts of problems.

From the microsoft.public.sms.rcdiags newsgroup
I suggest you find out if the IP address of the machine is really changing. If that is the case then it could be that you are using an old IP address from the SMS database. If your name resolution is in sync with DHCP then you will still be able to ping the machine by name and get the IP address. You can then take this IP address and connect to the machine directly like this:

remote.exe 2 <ip address> /SMS:NoSQL

This tool is in the 'sms\bin\i386' directory

I presume this is the problem. The other possibility is that something has happened to the client agent for Remote Control not to receive the connection.
