Whenever I try to
remote control a computer running Windows XP Professional I get a dialog box
asking me to authenticate. I don't get this box when I remote control my
Windows 2000 or NT servers.
Does anybody out there know how to stop the dialog box from coming up?

This is generally because the admin account you are using does not have
permissions to remote control the client (that is, is not in the Permitted
Viewers list) or the incoming account cannot be authenticated by the XP
Professional machine.
Is this client assigned to the same site where you are invoking remote
control? I presume it is, but if not it could be receiving different config
information. Check the SMS control panel applet for the assigned site.
Is the XP Pro machine a member of the same domain as the site server, indeed
is it part of the domain at all? This is the most likely source of the
problem.
