When installing the WBEMDSK, the four core MOFs cannot be compiled and the
installation fails on a domain controller logged in as the administrator. I've
already attempted to delete the 'WINNT\SYSTEM32\WBEM' directory and the WBEM
registry key and reinstall but it still fails.
There are known issues with WMI and SP5 as detailed in Microsoft Knowledge
Base article 254083 'SMS
2.0 SP1 Is Not Compatible with WMI Version 1085.'
Try manually
compiling the MOFs ('CIMWIN32.MOF',
'NTEVT.MOF',
'SECRCW32.MOF' and
'REGEVENT.MOF'),
with 'MOFCOMP'. Check the DCOM permissions on the server.
