You can pre-install the Core Client Components on a computer with no Discovery method enabled. But, for the other SMS client applications to install and install properly with the site information (Site ID, Site information, SMS ID, CAP and NAL info), you must have some type of Discovery enabled at the site (NT Remote, Windows Logon, NetWare Logon, etc.).
