Backlog of .psd file in coll_out.box

Does anyone know what a backlog of *.psd file in the \inboxes\coll_out.box\ directory on a central site server means? Can the older ones be deleted?

These are your Collections being replicated to the child sites. A backlog may indicate a problem with sending to a Site or Sites or that the server is having trouble keeping up with the demand. I suggest to modify the update schedule on the Collections from the default of 2 hours to a new setting of 1 day. This will give SMS more time to process the PSD files to child sites.
