| I have several laptop users that move
between different sites. Is there anyway I can disable Traveling Mode to stop
them being prompted to become a member of the new site? What happens if I
disable Traveling Mode? If you don't have Traveling mode enabled and your user
plugs into a subnet managed by different SMS server, the client will
automatically de-install the client if:
i) the client can contact any CAP from the original site
ii) the original site's boundaries don't include the new
subnet the client has just attached to
The client will automatically re-install itself into the
new subnet provided it meets the normal criteria for becoming a client (It's IP
address is in the Site server's boundaries and a relevant discovery and
installation method is enabled).
A new tool called 'ChkTravl.bat' is included
with the Support Tools bundle with SP2. This tool allows you to enable/disable
and check the current status of Traveling Mode on a client.
See the Help file for the SMS 2.0 Support Tools (accessible
from 'Start | Programs | SMS 2.0 Support Tools | Tools Help'),
for details of this utility and how to implement it.
