After installing Internet Explorer 7, part of the new added security is
making the user's web surfing more private. Well, if you're an
administrator, and you are required to do some investigation.. that new
feature blows. There are a couple of ways to view the files.
One.. if you're sitting right in front of the computer (or VNC'd in), you
can go to Tools>Options> and click 'Settings' in 'Browsing History'. Here,
you can view objects and files... but, what if you had to do some covert
snooping???
Open up Windows Explorer on your computer. Click on Tools>Folder Options>
Once the pop up shows up, click on the 'View' tab, and scroll down a bit.
You'll see an option checked, that reads "Hide protected operating system
files (Recommended)". Uncheck that puppy.
Then you can do your normal routine of going to a user profile in Documents
and Settings, look in the "Local Settings" folder (which is hidden and you
may have to unhide those folders), and BAM! There it is.
Since it is enabled on your computer, and you are a domain admin (I assume),
you can now do your Start>Run> and type \\networkpc\c$ and traverse to the
culprits computer.
Hope this helps... I know it's not much, but it's been bugging the heck out
of me!
